The Department of Infectious Diseases, Children's Hospital of Fudan University, National Children's Medical Center, is a National Key Clinical Specialty designated by the National Health Commission and a key specialty of the hospital. It is the only department authorized by the National Health Commission that fully retains the professional characteristics of pediatric infectious diseases, integrating medical service, education, and research with close multidisciplinary collaboration.
As a national and Shanghai municipal designated medical institution for the surveillance and treatment of pediatric infectious diseases, the department has long been a nationally influential training base for clinicians and researchers specializing in pediatric infectious diseases and liver diseases.
The department comprises three specialized divisions: Infectious Diseases, Infection Diseases, and Liver Diseases, with independent outpatient clinics and inpatient wards for each subspecialty.
The Division of Infectious and Infection Diseases operates a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment center for pediatric infectious and infectious diseases. It has standardized protocols for the management of common pediatric infectious conditions, and its diagnosis, treatment and rescue success rate for severe infectious diseases rank among the national leading level. It plays a leading role nationwide in promoting the rational use of antibiotics in children, emergency treatment of public health emergencies in children, management of adverse events following immunization, and implementation of vaccination for special-needs children.
The Division of Liver Diseases hosts one of the world's largest pediatric liver disease centers, equipped with internationally advanced technologies and concepts. It has first reported a variety of inherited and metabolic liver diseases both domestically and internationally.Its distinctive strengths include:Liver biopsy and pathological ,diagnosis,Molecular genetic diagnosis,Prevention and treatment of mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus,Systematic management of children with biliary atresia,Diagnosis and treatment of rare, complicated and critical pediatric liver diseases,Perioperative management of liver transplantation.The department leads the nation in the diagnosis and treatment of various rare, uncommon and complicated pediatric liver diseases, serving as the national center for pediatric liver disease care.
