1. Overview
The Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery was founded in 1996. Through 30 years of cultivation and development, a number of characteristic specialty centers have been established. At present, there are four specialty centers in our department: Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Pediatric Hearing Loss of Shanghai, Pediatric Nasopharyngeal and Tracheal Endoscopy Center, Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Pediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome, and Aerodigestive Center. We provide comprehensive, systematic, professional and one-stop medical services for children with common and uncommon conditions, such as hearing loss, snoring, allergic rhinitis, ear infections(otitis), rhinosinusitis, head and neck masses, palate cleft, bilateral posterior nostril atresia, meningoencephalocele, cerebrospinal fluid otorrhinorrhea, laryngotracheoesophageal cleft, bilateral vocal cord paralysis, subglottic stenosis, laryngeal web, and subglottic hemangioma, etc.
The Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery is home to physicians, nurses and other staff who will provide comprehensive care for your child. At present, there are 16 physicians, including 4 senior doctors, 8 intermediate doctors and 2 junior doctors; 12 nurse practitioners, including 8 intermediate nurses and 2 junior nurses; and 5 audiologists as well. Our team is service to the concept of "all for the children". No matter the complexity of your child's condition, our goal is the same: your child’s quick return to a healthy childhood and a normal life.
2. Test and Procedures
Our specialists not only treat children and adolescents with general ENT diseases and conditions but also work with teams of doctors trained in many areas to determine the most appropriate treatment for each child's needs.
We offers several treatments and procedures, including but not limited to those listed below. 
Specialized clinics: Hearing loss Clinic, Tinnitus and Vertigo Clinic, Otitis media Clinic,Allergic rhinitis Clinic, Chronis Rhinosinusitis Clinic, Adenoid Hypertrophy Clinic, Complicated airway diseases Clinic, Stridor Clinic, etc.
Audiological tests: acoustic impedance, otoacoustic emission (OAE), pure-tone hearing audiometry (PTA), auditory brainstem evoked potentials (ABR), auditory steady-state responses (ASSR), game-based audiometry, speech audiometry, and cochlear microphonics (CM), etc.
Endoscopic examination: nasal, ear and laryngeal endoscopy, and swallowing functional endoscopy (FEES) examination, etc.
Sleep study: Polysomnography(PSG), Drug-Induced Sleep Endoscopy (DISE), etc.
Surgical items: adenoidectomy and/or tonsillectomy, tympanostomy, tympanoplasty, external auditory canal reconstruction, cochlear implantation (CI), endoscopic repair of meningoencephalocele/cerebrospinal fluid leak, supraglottoplasty, balloon laryngotracheoplasty, laryngotracheal reconstruction (LTR), endoscopic/open repair of laryngotracheoesophageal cleft, etc.

Otology: hearing loss, tympanic membrane perforation, chronic otitis media, external auditory canal stenosis, cholesteatoma, otosclerosis, cerebrospinal otorrhea, etc. 
Rhinology: allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinosinusitis, nasal meningoencephalocele, choanal atresia, Eustachian tube disorder, etc.
Sleep disorders: adenoid hypertrophy, tonsillar hypertrophy, Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome(OSAS), etc.
Airway disease: laryngomalacia, subglottic stenosis, subglottic hemangioma, laryngotracheoesophageal cleft, laryngeal web, bilateral vocal cord paralysis, etc.
Head and neck: thyroglossal duct cyst (TDC), branchial cleft fistula/cyst, etc.
