The Electrocardiography and Cardiac Function Laboratory was founded in 1956. Former chiefs and supervisors were Drs. Bao Guangyi, Ning Shoubao, Zhu Shanqin, Xu Sumei, Gui Yonghao, Huang Guoying, Sheng Feng, Liu Fang, and Tian Hong.
Beyond routine ECG, ambulatory ECG, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, it pioneered pediatric phonocardiography, cardiac catheterization monitoring, exercise treadmill tests, esophageal pacing, head-up tilt tests, cardiopulmonary exercise tests, and ECG drug stress tests in China.It is the key platform for electrophysiological and cardiac function assessment in the hospital.
The Electrocardiography and Cardiac Function Laboratory undertakes ECG teaching for resident standardization and visiting physician training programs. The laboratory has hosted national continuing medical education courses including "Workshop on Clinical Application of Pediatric Electrocardiography" and " Progress in Pediatric Cardiovascular Function Detection", and participated in several major national research projects. The laboratory is one of the first state-accredited "Pediatric Syncope Center" and members of Shanghai ECG Quality Control Center, the Chinese Medical Association Society of Pediatrics and the Chinese Medical Doctor Association Society of Pediatrician.
